In this day of reality TV, we often are privy to some horrible blunders made in wedding planning. One big mistake, for example, would be allowing the groom to plan the wedding. Who knows what the wedding and reception would look like? Maybe you could have a sports themed wedding and a reception at the local sports bar.

We all know wedding planning can be stressful.

If both the bride and groom are on board with the choices made, everything should be okay. But there are other things that need to be taken into account as well. In fact, if the bride is happy, everyone will likely be happy.

Good choices can make a world of difference in relieving the stress leading up to the day and during the wedding.

Psychology Today recently shared an article on making your wedding planning happier:

The peak season for “I do’s” is upon us, and if you’re among the excited couples about to walk down the aisle, you’re probably getting advice from all directions. Everyone from grandparents to groomsmen, coworkers to caterers are lining up to offer up suggestions for every detail of your big day. While planning your wedding can surely be a fun and exciting venture you share with the people closest to you, it can also be a source of stress and certain unanticipated tensions that act as bumps on your road to married life.

While we may think of a wedding as a purely joyous occasion, there are psychological factors at play that also arise as we approach this major life transition. As practicalities and details pile up, it’s so important for couples to focus on the big-picture and keep certain values close to their heart. This means looking a bit beyond that fairytale-glow that seems to surround the wedding day and recognizing the real reasons you’re getting married and what they mean to you on a daily basis.
